Unpacking Universal Design for Learning as a pre-service teacher
In my 400 level Pragmatics of Teaching class we talked a lot about UDL or universal design for learning. A term borrowed from architecture where universal design aims to anticipate specific user needs and plan for them from the onset rather than requiring retrofitting after the fact. Field Day 1, Strike Day 1
To begin, this is a great interview to listen to for a bit of an overview of what has lead to the 2025 Alberta Teachers strike. First Post on a Saturday
On Monday, October 6th, 2025, I am meant to embark on my first field placement of my BEd after-degree studies at the University of Calgary, Werklund School of Education. Of course, it would appear the ongoing contract negotiations (or lack thereof) between the Alberta Teachers Association and the United Conservative Party (our current provincial governing party) have something else in mind.
